July 4th Stay at Home Festivities 2020

July 4th Celebrations

Saturday July 4th would have been the middle weekend of Wimbledon fortnight this year. It is also the day in the USA when they celebrate announcing their freedom from British rule.

So, we are going to embrace both. On Saturday 4th July you can choose to look east or west and we hope that you will want to enter into the spirit of the event and get involved.

We will be decorating house fronts/gardens in dark green and purple (Wimbledon tennis) or in red, white and blue (stars and stripes flag).

Perhaps you will set up a table and chairs in your front gardens and enjoy cream teas in the afternoon and/or barbecues or cookouts in the early evening.

The “Help for Coychurch Residents” group will be running a virtual tennis league throughout the day. To enter the sweepstake, in aid of charity, you will need to complete the form which will be in the June leaflet (which will be delivered to each house with more details) and pass it to your street leader with £2. Each entry form will be given a number and a draw made to match it with a tennis player so you can follow their “progress” on Facebook Live during the day.

One of our residents has created a tennis-based Quiz and a Snakes and Ladders game. Details will also be in the Leaflet and posted here nearer the time.
