Summary of Council Meeting on 14th July 2020

14th June Council Meeting Summary

Meeting started at 7pm. All current members of the council were present.

The following were agreed unanimously and approved by the council –

  • the minutes of the last meeting held on 10th March 2020
  • the schedule of payments for March 2020
  • the council’s annual accounts, the bank reconciliation, and the financial statement for 2019-20
  • the 2019-20 Audit statement ready for the internal auditor
  • the schedule of payments for the 1st quarter of 2020-21 (April to June)

The following were received and discussed by the council:

  • the Clerk’s report
  • process for filling vacant positions on the council
  • current planning applications
  • the footpaths report, progress on the Coychurch Circular Walk and the need for a volunteer walking group to keep the right of way clear. Ramblers Cymru will donate the equipment which will be needed
  • the latest crime figures from the South Wales Police website

The council discussed issues around village maintenance/enhancement, including:

  • trees at Duffryn Close – a survey is being arranged
  • bank of the stream along Main Road – NRW sprayed the river bank on 14th June 2020
  • grass cutting in the Play Park
  • winter planting / evergreens for the tiered planters
  • a wildlife garden project for the Glenwood Close end of the Play Park – RHS grant pack to be applied for
  • Coychurch Front Garden competition 1st-2nd August with theme “My Garden is a Picture”
  • The “Love It don’t Trash It” campaign by BCBC
  • Inspection required of the wall around the Williams Memorial Hall car park. Cllr Evans will arrange with a contractor

The Chairperson thanked Cllr Hyde for his quality repair of the wooden slat bench at the Meadow Close/Main Road junction.
