Connor James of Age Cymru has met with the bid writers for grant funding recently and they confirmed that capital grants are very difficult to achieve at the moment so our project will be over the long term. He also came to the hall with a building contractor to review the works needed to bring the hall up to standard to provide Age Cymru services and make it compliant with disabled facilities etc.
The bid writers also advised that many of the grants that are available for this type of project, would involve a substantial part of the overall cost being provided by the charity through fund raising.
We are committed to exploring all avenues and having a plan for the long term sustainability of the hall and will meet early March to discuss how we proceed given this information.
Ticket sales for our Rat Pack and Michael Buble tribute night have slowed considerably and we still have approx. 40 unsold. When we had our public meeting last September many people said how they missed these evenings so it is disappointing that tickets have not been sold. From the trust perspective there is a large financial commitment to securing the entertainment and unless they are sufficient numbers interested then this will be loss making rather than giving us a profit which is solely for the ongoing maintenance of the hall.
If you would like to come along for a good evening of entertainment and company please contact us for tickets.
Hiring the hall
Our website shows the current regular activities so if there is anything that you would like to join please use this to see when it is on and who to speak to if necessary.
There are many slots during the day available so if you would like to start a new group for like minded people please contact us to discuss how we can accommodate you.
Again, this income is a vital source of revenue to maintain the hall and keep these activities available for everyone in the community.
We had a lovely evening to celebrate Paul’s impending retirement and would like to again publicly thank him for his service to the Community Council and Williams Memorial Hall over the past 11 years.
We are pleased to announce that Mabyn Thomas is taking over both roles with effect from 18 February. Many will already know Mabyn as the Secretary of the Gardening Society and Chairman of the Community Café. As such she is already very familiar with the hall and wants it to go from strength to strength.
We hope everyone who uses the hall will welcome Mabyn and we are certain that the good service you have received from Paul will continue in Mabyn’s capable hands.
